About Sherborne Tennis Academy
Held at Sherborne Girls School in North Dorset, Sherborne Tennis Coaching is pleased to be offering residential and non-residential tennis camps for Summer 2024 for players aged 8-17.
Run by a team of professional tennis coaches, all LTA-qualified to a minimum of Level 3, and overseen by Head Coach Matt Long, this is a great opportunity for players to really improve their tennis in a short period of time and enjoy all the benefits of staying in a residential setting.
A first class experience
Players will have the opportunity to play on grass, hard and astro courts in picturesque and prestigious surroundings.
With over 30 hours of tennis across 5 days, players will take part in hand-fed and live-ball drills, point play and match practice, focusing on both the tactical and technical aspects of their game.
Each day will focus on a different specialty ensuring that all players improve in every aspect of their game in time for an epic final day tournament and prize-giving.
Why Sherborne Tennis Academy?
Sherborne Tennis Academy offers residential and non-residential options for attending tennis camps offering maximum flexibility and several different options to suit all ages and abilities, from 8-17.
During summer 2024 we are excited to be adding a new dimension to our summer camps, with some sessions taken alongside students from Sherborne Language School who are taking English + Tennis options. We are unique in being able to run some sessions with the language school, enabling all participants to gain a truly international experience, making friends and playing tennis with players from across the globe.
Our goal is that all participants will leave with increased skills and confidence from their chosen programme, a new set of international friends and great memories.
Why Tennis?
Tennis is a sociable game that can be played by all ages and abilities throughout all stages of life. The benefits of an active lifestyle are renowned, but tennis can also bring benefits off-court too: an increase in confidence on court will naturally be reflected off-court and in social situations. Tennis encourages responsibility and team-working and for younger players it can play a crucial role in developing and improving hand-eye coordination, agility, stamina and strength.
All our tennis coaches are accomplished professionals, many of whom have played and competed at a high level both in the UK and Internationally. They will bring their expertise to every session and share their tips and experiences with players to help them progress quickly in every session.
For many children, sport is the first place where teamwork, responsibility and a work ethic really have an impact. Working together and learning to take turns, schedule matches and play points teaches the skills of self-discipline and negotiation, which will set them up for life, whether they pursue their sport at a higher level or not.
